Open Day with Free TasterRazzamataz Chester!
Our principal at Chester is Aisling Smith.

Aisling began dancing at the age of three and throughout her life has trained in most styles from ballet to hip hop. At aged seven she also added acting and singing classes to her performing arts training and while growing up she performed on stage at every opportunity. During her training she took annual dance exams, music exams for voice and piano and acting exams, all with enormous success. Aisling additionally studied performing arts subjects at GCSE and A-Level, receiving top grades. From the age of sixteen she began developing her teaching skills by assisting her dance teacher with younger classes and volunteering with her local theatre group.

After leaving school she took up a place at the internationally renowned School of Contemporary Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University and gained a BA(Hons) degree in Performing Arts. She studied everything involved in the arts from performance to production, directing to devising, and everything in between. She performed student work at numerous venues in and around the North West to great acclaim. Her final year work as a Director and Actress were selected to be performed as part of the graduation showcase.

After graduating, Aisling went on to train as a dance and drama teacher, and began teaching on a freelance basis. Over the subsequent years she has developed professionally and continually worked towards achieving her dream of running her own performing arts school. She has trained, taught and performed with some of the biggest names in theatre across the UK and abroad, including Stage One Theatre School, West-Country Theatre Company, Bigfoot Theatre Company, Dancemode and Pineapple Performing Arts, among many others. She has taught in many different settings, has studied the principles of performing arts education at an advanced level, and has worked with children and teenagers from a huge variety of backgrounds. Combining her work with her passion for travel has taken her as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East, having most recently returned from working as a teacher and performer in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for a year.

Aisling firmly believes that the varied and diverse education she received in performing arts as a child and teenager was a large contributing factor to person she is today; confident, articulate, hard-working and ambitious. She is delighted to be bringing the same opportunities to children in the Chester area through Razzamataz Theatre Schools.
